and this is how it goes

the new york trip was great.  it just made me realize how much i enjoy the city.  the job interview just went ok, though.  i think they weren't very clear of what they wanted in the email.  in the interview they said they told everyone to email them creative ideas of how to get agents.  that's cool, but i could have done that from home.  no worries.  i will find something else assuming this doesn't work out.

it's snowing hard here.  i like it.

in life news, i have felt lost the past few days.  i think it was the thought of my life changing to rapidly without warning, but then i thought about that notion, and i realized that's all my life has ever been since i moved from kentucky.  and then i thought that maybe the reason it has changed so much is that i have constantly been trying to find something to make me happy, and failing.  that may be the case.  but in any regards, i also decided that is way too much thinking for one day and i am going to spend the rest of it staring at the snow.

the hornets nest

my interview is tomorrow.  i've been in the city for less than 24 hours, and even this short time makes me realize how much i want to be here.  there's a different vibe to this place that is completely indescribable.  even by just going to dinner, going out to a comedy show to a bar and wandering around a bit, i had an amazing time.  so today, it's time to prepare for the interview.

i am going to come up with a strategy plan for the business if i got the job.  i think that's a good way to show how i would be effective.  at the moment, i'm not sure how i am going to do that, though.  to be fair, i just woke up and am still trying to get my bearings.  i have faith that i will figure something out.  maybe i'll go to a coffee shop and work on it.  i'll be there with all of the writers working on the next kerouac novel.  maybe their beatnik enthusiasm will help me.

ok.  i don't have much more to say at the moment.  i need to quit putting off working on this and just work.  if anyone has any ideas, please let me know.  telepathically, i guess?

locked and loaded

the past two days have been a blur, and not just because of the lack of sleep or high volume of sinus medicine, but also due to the fact that i've been running around like a madman.  i just got home.  this has been normal for the entire week.  but, thanks to this craziness, i got everything i needed to get done!  got my suit, my hairs cut, and my oil change.

turns out though, didn't need to get my oil changed.  i went out to trivia tonight, and my friend that runs the show, steve, said he read my blog and saw i was heading up to new york for an interview, and forwarded me an email he had gotten with continental deals.  and wouldn't you know it, columbus to nyc this weekend for $140.  steve, you rule.  thank you.

if i wasn't mistaken, i think a lot of things have been going in my favor for this trip.  to add on top of that, the suit i bought was 25% off!  let's just pretend that this was all meant to be and that this is how it's supposed to happen.

and then the plane crashes.

a good first sign

well, i don't know if this blog was the cause for the good fortune, but this morning i got an email from a job i applied for last night asking me to come in for an interview!  the job is a social media director for a credit card processing company, which really looks like a perfect fit for me.  so now, i need to get to the city this weekend.  so i looked up flights.  i'm no millionaire, so that was out.  i thought about taking a bus, but i would rather have my own schedule to adhere to, so i am going to drive up.  this means i have a lot to do before friday when i leave.

first, i need to not look like a bum.  this means getting a haircut tomorrow and shaving my beard off (for the first time in 3 years!!).  second, i need to get my oil changed (boring).  third, i need to get some kind of kick ass suit.  i have never really bought a suit for myself, so this should be very interesting.  i might have to drag a friend that has style (most likely a girl) along for that one so i don't pick something that a corpse would wear.

when all of this is done, i think i'll be good to go.  i am staying with my friends robbie and dean this weekend, and if all goes well and i get this job, there is a good chance i will end up living with dean, so i am excited to hang out with them.

this is a really boring second post, but mostly because it's all business.  on a funny note, i drank so much coffee this morning that i had to go stand out in the rain because i thought my heart was going to explode.  after further investigation, i learned that my heart did not, in fact, explode.  on an even funnier note, i just made that story up.

see you in three days new york.

the beginning

ever since i could remember, i've wanted to live in new york city.  maybe it's because i grew up in such a small town, or maybe it's just because i enjoy how hectic and alive it always seems to be.  whatever the case, i want to be there.  and i've tried.  believe me i have.  but one failed attempt after another just makes it even harder the next go around.

and then after a few unexpected events and a few friends talking about wanting to move, i finally decided that i've had it.  i'm going.  i'm either going to find a job or i am saving and leaving as soon as i can.  the most realistic month to move without a job is looking like june 2011.  so here we are.  i have started applying for jobs, both banking and in advertising, which is where i have my experience, and i have also started working extra hours at my current job to save up.

of course, my second week of starting the job search isn't going too well since i have decided to start this up.  but i think this will help me stay focused.  that's what i need.

so here's to new beginnings.  here's to chasing for what you want.  and here's to the next six months.  i am looking forward to the end results.
